Dominant Sabalenka Claims Back-to-Back WTA Player of the Year Accolades.

The top-ranked player Aryna Sabalenka has been selected the Women's Tennis Association top performer of the year for a second consecutive season.

The 27-year-old secured four titles – the most on tour – which included successfully defending the US Open in September versus Amanda Anisimova to secure her fourth Grand Slam singles title.

A Year of High Performance

Across the season, Sabalenka played in a circuit-leading nine finals, with defeats coming to Madison Keys in the Australian Open final in January and Coco Gauff in the French Open final.

The Belarusian also won the Brisbane International in January, the Miami Open during the spring, and the Madrid Open in May. She remained the whole season as the top-ranked player, finishing 2025 atop the rankings for a second straight year.

This past summer, she achieved the status of being the first athlete to top 12,000 WTA ranking points after Serena Williams did so nearly a decade ago.

Historic Achievements

Sabalenka ended the season with a sixty-three to twelve win-loss record, and collected a record eleven million pounds in tournament winnings.

She garnered nearly 80% of the votes submitted by international tennis media.

Later this month, she is set to play 2022 Wimbledon finalist Nick Kyrgios in a Battle of the Sexes-style exhibition match with the aim of "elevate women's tennis to a greater prominence".

Other WTA Award Honorees

• Comeback Player of the Year: Switzerland's Belinda Bencic, 28, received the award after taking extended hiatus following the arrival of her daughter and making her comeback to the sport at the start of this year.
• Rookie of the Year: Canadian 19-year-old Victoria Mboko received the award after beginning the season positioned beyond the world's top 300 and soaring to the eighteenth spot.
• Doubles Team of the Year: Katerina Siniakova and Taylor Townsend earned the title after capturing their second career Grand Slam title together.
• Biggest Leap of the Year: Amanda Anisimova received the accolade after reaching five finals.

Last week, Carlos Alcaraz won three honours in the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) Awards, including the year-end number one award, while Jannik Sinner was voted fans' favourite for a third consecutive time.
