Formal charges have been brought against two men following a suitcase robbery where a substance thought to be pepper spray led to people being hurt at the major London air hub.
Tyrone Richards, 31, and Anton Clarke-Butcher, 24, have both been charged with two counts of robbery and two counts of administering a noxious substance, according to official statements.
This legal action stems from an investigation into an attack at the multi-storey car park at Terminal 3 on the weekend. Earlier that day, two female travelers had their suitcases taken after getting out of a parking garage elevator, authorities reported.
A young child was one of the people hurt during the incident. A total of five individuals went to hospital for treatment and were subsequently released.
This event – described by police as was not part of a series and deemed non-terroristic – resulted in disruptions to rail services and the temporary blocking of the main airport road tunnel and the Terminal 3 car park for a limited duration.
